1. How is CellaCam connected to the cellular network?
The system has a cellular modem and a video server contained in the packaging.
2. Does the cellular service cost extra?
Yes. CCTV Connections can assist you with securing the proper service from Verizon Wireless. We can also pre-configure and test the cellular connection prior to shipping the camera to you. 3. How do I know if my area has adequate cellular coverage?
Verizon Wireless provides a web page with a coverage map. You can determine adequate cellular service coverage by clicking on the following link. Verizon Coverage Map. Make sure you select the “Broadband & V Cast” option. The coverage area must be the “Blue Color” for adequate service.
4. Must I use the Cellular Service with CCTV Connections help?
No. CCTV Connections provides this service as a convenience for our customers. You are welcome to contact Verizon Wireless directly and arrange for service. Be sure to request an unrestricted Internet connection with a static IP address.
5. Is Verizon Wireless the only Cellular Service provider available for use with CellaCam?
No. As a special order, we can also provide equipment that is compatible with either AT&T or Sprint as long as you arrange for the service directly with these providers. Please contact us at (904) 207-1548 or sales@cctvconnections.com for additional information. We will be glad to assist you.
6. Can I permanently install my CellaCam?
Yes. But the power cord shipped with CellaCam is not rated for permanent outdoor use so we recommend you put the power cord in conduit .
7. Is the CellaCam recommended for round-the-clock surveillance?
It depends. Because cellular bandwidth is expensive, we only recommend the CellaCam for full-time surveillance with one of Verizon's Unlimited Bandwidth plans. In lieu of paying for an unlimited service plan, CellaCam is ideal as a spot check surveillance device with a less expensive service plan.
8. Since CellaCam may be expensive for round-the-clock surveillance, what do you recommend for continuous surveillance?
Our Net Cam products do a superb job for all types of surveillance and digital video recording. These cameras only need power and an ethernet connection to your PC or you local area network.
