About Our Company

In 2007, CCTV Connections was formed by business and technology experts with practical experience implementing surveillance video systems in the rail, ocean transportation and automotive industries. Our goal is to provide superior products and services to our customers with maximum value at the least cost.

The key to a successful CCTV system in many cases depends upon the "connections", hence the name of our company. Based upon experience in designing and commissioning hundreds of CCTV cameras, we have found the method of data and power connection to be most important. How the system is designed will greatly influence the initial project costs as well as the future reliability of the system. We have experience with all methods of video connectivity and can help our customers determine the best approach at the least cost for the expected life of the system. In addition to supporting a "typical" CCTV installation, we also specialize in finding solutions for difficult situations such as very inaccessible locations.

When considering a CCTV system, there are several key aspects to keep in mind:

  • The Camera
There are two basic types of CCTV cameras: digital and analog. Most CCTV cameras in the past were analog devices that require a separate video server and/ or a Digital Video Recorder to record and serve the video to multiple monitors. With the advent of higher quality digital cameras, they have become the camera of choice. Digital cameras are durable, easy to maintain and very flexible when designing complex, multiple-site solutions. Refer to the figure below.

  • For our clients, we only recommend the use of the highest quality digital CCTV cameras. It doesn’t help to have an image, if it is just a big blur.

Ease of Installation and Use
Most conventional analog CCTV systems are very complex to install, use and maintain. These systems require devices to first convert analog video signals into digital data. Then separate devices are used to transmit and receive the data from the camera to a DVR. This is usually accomplished with either wireless or fiber technology. Once the data has been received by the DVR, additional devices must be used to connect multiple monitors and provide remote access.

Our kit solutions are simple and yet very flexible. To install, all that is require is 110 AC power and a network connection. The camera contains its own video server and has a backup recorder. The customer has the option of using a wired (Ethernet), wireless (802.11), or broadband cellular service to connect the cameras or a combination of all three connection methods.

Remote Access
With the use of digital technology, it is very easy to setup remote access either via a connection to an ISP with DSL or cable, or directly connect to the Internet via a cellular ISP. To remotely view a camera, the user simply opens a web browser on any PC connected to the Internet.  The video connections are secured with a user ID and password.

Recording Playback
Our solution provides video recording in two places, at the camera and optionally on a remote Network Video Recorder (NVR). The cameras use SD cards to store images up to 8 hours. Any remote user with the proper credentials can access the camera and play back video upon demand. This capability provides critical system redundancy. Conventional CCTV systems usually rely on a single DVR device for capturing all video.

Durability and Reliability
Our solution is made of the highest quality components and materials. The camera devices are environmentally protected, and can operate in extreme weather conditions. The cameras are equipped with internal heaters and blowers for very cold and humid climates.
As compared to conventional CCTV systems, the CCTV Cell Solution is far superior in regards to total system reliability. Each camera is essentially a complete system. Thus, if one camera is lost, the remaining cameras will still function. By contrast, if the DVR is lost with a conventional CCTV system, the entire system is lost!
